A Precaution for Our Neighbors: Taylor Farms Cyclospora Outbreak

You may have seen news coverage of a multi-state Cyclospora outbreak linked to Taylor Farms de Mexico. Out of an abundance of caution, LEAFB is removing all Taylor Farms salads and salad mixes from our distribution while this situation continues to develop.

What's Happening

The FDA and CDC are investigating a multistate outbreak of Cyclospora illness connected to shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico, sourced from central Mexico. On July 17, 2026, Taylor Farms announced a voluntary recall of that lettuce, and the recall has since expanded to cover additional products distributed to retailers and restaurants in dozens of states, including Texas. Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that can cause diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, and other intestinal symptoms, typically appearing about a week after eating contaminated food.

Our Decision

The official recall from Taylor Farms and the FDA currently covers iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico, not the company's full product line. Even so, we've made the decision to pull all Taylor Farms salads and salad mixes from our shelves and distribution, not just the specifically recalled items. We'd rather be more cautious than necessary when it comes to the food we put in our neighbors' hands.

What This Means for You

If you've received a Taylor Farms salad or salad mix from LEAFB recently, we recommend not eating it. Throw it away, and wash any containers, surfaces, or utensils that may have come into contact with it using hot, soapy water. If you're experiencing symptoms like diarrhea, stomach cramps, or fatigue, please contact your doctor.

How to Protect Yourself

• Check any Taylor Farms salad or salad mix products in your fridge and discard them.

• Wash your hands, cutting boards, and countertops after handling any produce.

• Watch for symptoms, which can appear anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks after exposure.

• When in doubt, throw it out — it's always okay to prioritize safety over waste.
